ASK CHILDBEARING: I am worried about getting morning sickness during this pregnancy. I have heard that acupuncture can help

For this quarter’s Q & A, we are pleased to feature guest contributor: Renee Taylor from Acumamas in Vancouver

A: Morning sickness in Pregnancy is extremely common yet it does not mean that women need to suffer with this debilitating symptom.

Research and clinical experience show that Acupuncture offers a safe and effective treatment for morning sickness in Pregnancy. Chinese Medicine sees the body very holistically and sees symptoms as manifestations of pre-exiting imbalances. Morning sickness may have many roots and an experienced Acupuncturist can help the body restore it’s balance therefore relieving the symptoms of nausea and vomiting and restoring greater wellness.

Women usually find the treatments deeply relaxing and relief may be immediate or experienced gradually after several sessions. It is best to seek treatments as soon as possible on the onset of the morning sickness though it’s never too late. Some women come in for precautionary sessions to prevent morning sickness altogether.

A benefit of acupuncture is not only to relieve immediate symptoms but to also bring harmony to the whole body and the growing fetus for the future wellness of the pregnancy. It is most important to seek out a licensed acupuncturist with advanced training in Obstetrics. Please refer to www.CAOOM.org for practitioners in your area.
